If you’re ready to pack up and hit the road, then this is your vehicle. The Yokota Gran Tourismo is just a solid touring bike and ready to take you wherever you want to go. Prior to purchasing this bike I had never heard of Yokota. I think they were better known as a mountain bike manufacturer. Regardless this bike is good looking and functional. A good touring bike should be dependable. No one wants to deal with repairs when they’re on the road. As I was restoring this bike, I really evaluated each component to determine if I would refurbish it or replace it. The frame and fork are stout and in great shape. They were sent to the paint shop to get powder coated. The platinum gray paint looks great. The Nitto stem and SR Modolo handlebars are original. The Shimano SLR brake levers are also original. New brake hood covers were added to them. I moved the shifters from the down tube to the bar ends for easier access. The Deore derailleurs are original and cleaned up nicely. The rear is indexed. The crankset was dismantled and the crank arms were powder coated in the same platinum gray color. I replaced the chain rings. The two larger rings are both from Stronglight. The smallest ring came from an Ultegra triple crankset. The brakes are original but have new Koolstop brake pads on them. I added new 700c x 35 Panaracer Pasela ProTite tires. These are wider tires to take you off of the road and onto rougher surfaces if you chose. The addition of the leather Selle Italia saddle, red bar tape and red cables are the touches that set this bike apart. Call or message about the bike if you are interested.
